13.07.2010, 23:02 52

All hotels built last year ranged between 20 and 60 rooms, withmost rooms rated as three or four stars, as the hotel market nolonger had money for the sizeable investments of 2007-2008, writesBusiness Magazin magazine.
During that period nobody wanted to build hotels with less than 100rooms. Consultants in the field even complained that all investorshad big plans for hotels with tens or hundreds of 4 and 5-starrooms. Not only Bucharest, but other cities across Romania, aswell, reached the targeted number of hotel rooms via large hotels:Radisson SAS (450 rooms), Rin Grand (1,500 rooms), Europe hotel inIasi (210 rooms), and Continental Forum (Sibiu), which, togetherwith Ibis Sibiu (also held by Radu Enache), owner of Continental, cumulates over 200 rooms.
Last year's surprise came from the fact that, despite small hotelsbeing built, the price per room built was higher than in pastyears, with most money spent on the attention to details and onmarketing. As a result, five small hotels that opened in Bucharestin the last few years climbed to the top positions on booking.comand tripadvisor.com, becoming the most popular hotels in Bucharestamong travellers. The best-rated hotel on specialised websites isChristina.
