26.07.2004, 00:00 15

Dobrogea Grup, a producer within the milling and bakery industry, saw turnover surge 36% in the first six months of 2004, up to 37 million euros. The company will re-enter the biscuits market, where it plans to become one of the top players soon.
The group forecasts turnover worth 75.4 million euros for this year, up 30% from last year.
"We have registered significant growth in the case of Dobrogea packaged flour, Pasta Magica pasta and the breakfast cereals Captain Crantz. Within this last group of products, Dobrogea has also launched two new brands this year: Funky Mix and Chocko cereals for children and diet cereals under the Diet brand," says Fotini Teodorescu, Dobrogea Grup chairman.
The company has recently resumed the production of biscuits, installing a new production line in the wake of a 3.8 million-euro investment. "We will produce all kinds of biscuits: gluten biscuits, sugar biscuits, crackers, pretzels, and creme-filled biscuits. Our target is to gain a position among the top three domestic biscuit producers," says Teodorescu. The largest competitors on the biscuit market are Pan Grup of Craiova and the Turkish company Ulker.
For this year, Dobrogea Grup plans to invest 4 million euros in milling and bakery operations, frozen products and within the logistics sector, in order to consolidate its market position.
At this point, Dobrogea Grup owns, according to its own research, a 70% market share in Constanta county in terms of bread sales, 60% for the wholesale and packaged flour and, at the national level, it is a market leader on both segments.
