Dobrogea retools mill

One of the leading players in the milling and bakery industry, Dobrogea Grup Constanta, will invest more than 2.5 million euros next year in order to modernise and retool its milling facility in Constanta.



The group estimates this year's turnover to stand at 75.4 million euros, up 30% from 2003.



Its brands include Dobrogea (wheat flour, maize flour, semolina), Dan Do Pan (complex ameliorators for the bread-making process), Pasta Magica (pasta), Captain Cranz, Matina, Funky Mix, Choco and Diet (breakfast cereals for kids and adults), Fresh (frozen bakery products), Neptun, Litoral Digesta and total (bread and specialities with added cereal content).



The company logged substantial sales increases in the first half of this year for the Dobrogea packaged flour, the Pasta Magica pasta and for the Captain Cranz breakfast cereals.



It has recently relaunched the biscuit production, after having opened a new line in which it invested nearly 4 million euros, where it will make all types of biscuits.



Its stated goal is to become a top three biscuit maker on the domestic market.



Dobrogea Grup has 4 million-euro investments in milling, bakery, frozen products and logistics scheduled for this year, in order to consolidate its market position.



Investments over the last ten years exceed 30 million euros.



Dobrogea Grup currently estimates its market share in the Constanta County is 70% for bread, 60% for packaged and bulk flour, with the Dobrogea flour being the top brand in Romania for both segments. It also accounts for 80% of the local and for 40% of the national market of frozen milling and bakery products.



The group owns 12 factories in Constanta and in the respective county, and employs more than 1,250 people. It owns stake in six other companies in Constanta and throughout the country. Dobrogea Grup is entirely Romanian-held and was privatised in 1995 through a management and employee buyout.



Its main competitors are Vel Pitar, Loulis, Boromir Ramnicu-Valcea and Raco Com Agro Pan Vaslui.
