Electricity exports have in the past two months come to be evenfive times bigger than in the similar periods of 2009. Romania islikely to reach total exports of 500 MW.
Romania currently exports 300 MW of energy to Serbia, theequivalent of Petrom's two-year consumption, and there are talksfor another 200 MW export in October, to the same buyer, Rudnapgroup of Serbia, about which little is known.
Early this month, Electrica, an electricity distribution and supplycompany, was the broker of a deal worth around 100m eurosrepresenting a 300 MW electricity export to Serbia.
Market sources say that besides the 300-MW energy export over a oneyear period to Rudnap, which started on September 1, an additionaldocument for a further 200 MW for the same company is beingprepared. Overall, the export is likely to reach 500 MW, almost 70%of the capacity of a Cernavodă nuclear reactor, with the totalvalue of the deal going as high as 200m euros should the secondcontract also be sealed over a one-year period.
