Home appliances maker Arctic ranked first in the machinery and equipment category in the National Company Ranking

Arctic electronic home appliances producer, which registered turnover worth 164m euros in the first 9 months of this year, up 20% against the same period in 2006, ranks first in the category of machinery and equipment in the National Company Ranking (TNF) organised by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Romania (CCIR) in partnership with territorial chambers of industry and commerce (CCIT), which presents the firms that boasted solid financial results in Romania at the end of 2006.
The list was put together based on the 2006 balance sheets sent to the Economy and Finance Ministry and on customs documents concerning the value of exports dealt with by the National Customs Authority.
In the industrial sector, which covers various manufactured products, the first position in the category of large enterprises is filled by DPR Draxlmaier Procese de Productie Romania, which posted turnover worth around 20m euros in 2006.
Swiss-based Holcim group, which owns 3 cement plants in Romania and plans to build another one, and whose net sales increased by 10.9% to 12.4bn euros and net income advanced by 109.8%, to 2bn euros, holds the top position in the primary product industry (very large enterprises).
Another firm in this section, but in the category of large enterprises, is Lafarge Ciment, whose turnover increased by 58.6% against the same period last year.
Siveco, which registered turnover worth around 29m euros last year, holds the top position of companies in the IT section with operations in research, development and high-tech activities.
Mobile telephone operator Orange Romania ranks first in the telecommunications section, followed by Vodafone Romania and Romania Cable Systems.
Buzau-based Eximprod group, which operates in the field of the production and distribution of equipment in the electrical industry, with 24m-euro turnover in 2006, holds the top position in the category of electrical and optical equipment industry (medium-sized enterprises section).
In the timber industry, Alba-based Kronospan Sepal holds the top position with turnover worth above 150m euros in 2006. Rosal Group ranks first in the category of waste collection, recycling services and sanitation.
The largest number of firms, 650, ranked in the top ten in TNF in their respective sectors are from Bucharest, followed by Timis county, with 81 firms, and Prahova with 66.
