Two former Bere Mures shareholders invest in wind farms

Virgil Mailat and Emil Morariu, two former shareholders of BereMures beer producer, a company acquired by Heineken in 2008 for 150million euros, want to invest 10-20 million euros in a wind farm ineastern Romania.

"We are in advanced talks over the acquisition of the plot. Thesurface area is not important, the wind force is. (...) This is anattractive sector, close to what I studied (he is an engineer bytraining i.e.)," Mailat told ZF. He sold 25% of his shares in BereMures, the second-largest independent beer producer on the Romanianmarket in 2008, for 35 million euros. He and the other shareholdersshifted their investments to sectors that do not have anything todo with the beer industry.

Mailat invested around 11 million euros in opening a privatehospital in Targu-Mures, including two clinics previously developedby the businessman. Emil Morariu invested around 4 million euros inbuilding a hotel in Targu-Mures, while Gheorghe Grec acquiredfour-star hotel Germisara in Geoagiu-Bai resort, Hunedoara county.
