Non-residents spend 13.5m euros on stock market

Foreign investors spent more on the domestic capital market than they withdrew in June, a trend which has held true for the entire first six months of 2005, National Securities Commission (CNVM) data show. Some 107.3 million RON (30 million euros) entered the market in June, whilst the amount withdrawn by non-residents from brokers'' accounts was close to 49 million RON (13.6 million euros). The number of foreign investors rose by 45 in June, of which 27 were legal entities. Only 11 exited the market last month. Non-residents brought 663 million RON (181 million euros) into Romania in the first six months of the year and withdrew 614 million RON (167.5 million euros). Net inflows of foreign capital amounted to 13.5 million euros over the first six months. The volume of acquisitions by foreign investors reached 120 million RON (33 million euros), 77.2 million RON (21.2 million euros) higher than the 42.7 million RON (11.8 million euro) sales. Non-residents also bought more than they sold in the first half, namely 325 million euros compared with 290 million euros sold. ZF
