Transactions made for Romanian investors account for an ever-larger share of the volumes handled by brokers. So, even though in the January ranking of brokers on the Stock Exchange, the top two positions went to brokers who are traditional favourites of foreign investors, the next three positions are occupied by brokers who trade mainly for Romanians. The brokers on the second place said Romanians/foreigners ratio was relatively balanced in January as far as buys in that month were concerned. Top brokers in January were those at ING Securities, with a traded volume almost double that of Raiffeisen Capital & Investment (RCI), which ranked second, but most ING transactions were brokered for the Czechs at Zentiva, as part of the tender offer put out to acquire 49% in Sicomed. The transactions carried out by Raiffeisen brokers brought them an 8% market share in January. ZF
