The current chairman of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, Sergiu Oprescu, will no longer run in the elections for nine new members of the Stock Exchange Committee, which will be held at the end of this week. Brokers holding stakes in the Stock Exchange are to elect a new chairman as well as other eight members of the Committee, which will have a five-year mandate. "I decided not to run quite a while ago. I have completed my term in office, and the last five years have been quite intense and busy for the Stock Exchange," Oprescu told ZF. He is vice-chairman of Alpha Bank. No one had officially announced for chairman by Friday, but according to information on the market, among the favourites for the chairmanship of the Stock Exchange are Andrei Siminel, manager of the Broadhurst fund, current chairman of the Brokers'' Association and chairman of the RASDAQ before its merger with the Stock Exchange, and Septimiu Stoica, one of the Stock Market''s current vice-chairmen.
