Stock Exchange investments double

Net foreign capital inflows on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and RASDAQ doubled last year, reaching 138.6 billion euros, as a result of investments of 603.8 million euros and withdrawals of 465.2 million euros. According to data from the National Securities Commission (CNVM), the sums brought by foreign investors into the accounts of brokerage companies totalled 2.18 billion RON (603.8 million euros), almost 2.7 times more than in 2004. From January to December 2005, non-residents obtained 1.68 billion RON (465.2 billion euros) from liquidating their positions, 3.07 times more than last year. Inflows from foreign investors exceeded outflows in nine months, whereas three months (January, February and April) saw a deficit. Withdrawals of non-residents reached 236.55 million RON (64.75 million euros), 34.6 million RON less than inflows, in December. Last year saw a volume of acquisitions by foreign investors of 2.79 billion RON (771.9 million euros) and the sums derived from sales totalled 2.18 billion RON (604.45 million euros). ZF
