Only 6,000 of the 92,000 accounts registered with brokerage firms at the end of last year recorded Stock Exchange purchases in January, while shares were sold from 6,700 accounts. Therefore, the number of active investors, who either bought or sold shares last month on the Stock Exchange is 12,700 at the most, which leaves around 80,000 investors who are currently pursuing a wait-and-see policy. "There are many investors who are now waiting to see what happens. We have clients who have kept their cash in their accounts for months on end because they are undecided," says Octavian Dragolea, agency manager of IFB Finwest. The number of investment accounts opened with brokerage firms amounted to 92,000 at the end of last year, according to statistics of the Investors' Compensation Fund (FCI), up 5% against the end of 2007.
