SIF Banat-Crisana wants hotel chain

03.03.2003, 00:00 5

SIF Banat-Crisana is planning to establish a hotel chain in about five years, to bring together all the accommodation structures in Western Romania, where it holds a stake. "The project entails building or rehabilitating accommodations. In the medium-term, we will redecorate some 10 or 11 hotels. SIF Banat-Crisana does not own many hotels because most of the tourism companies had been initially taken over by SIF Transilvania. This is why we will convert a series of unused assets into two or three-star hotels," Carmen Dumitrescu, deputy general manager of the company said. SIF Banat-Crisana is planning to invest in three assets in Baia Mare, Cluj and Hunedoara in 2003, with the works estimated at some 60-70bn ROL (about $2 million). The SIF deputy general manager added the hotels would have common identification elements to single them out among the other hotels in the area and make up an individual brand. ZF
