12.12.2002, 00:00 5

Societatea de Investitii Financiare (Financial Investment Company - SIF) Oltenia is planning to buy more into drugmaker Antibiotice Iasi, and is to launch a public purchasing offer. The launch of an offer for Antibiotice will be the second major decision involving SIF's investment in this company in a matter of months. SIF Oltenia in September bought 4.4% in Antibiotice from Romanian Investment Company (RIC), therefore coming to hold 9.89%, up from the previous 5.4%. The deal was worth about one million dollars, with the price paid by SIF Oltenia reaching 2,300 ROL per share. According to the new capital market legislation, the investors planning to get more than 10% in a specific company have to put out a public purchasing offer in this regard. "We aim to own than 10%, therefore we will probably launch a public purchasing offer early next year. We have yet to decide how many shares we will buy or what price we will pay: our goal is to exceed 10%. From that moment on, we'll be allowed to buy from the market depending on how attractive the price is," Tudor Ciurezu, SIF Oltenia economic manager told Ziarul Financiar. ZF
